Is acupuncture safe?
A: Acupuncture is only safe and efficacy when it is operated in a proper trained practitioner’s hand. A practitioner must be registered with a professional organization, such as the Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine (ATCM). ATCM’s members must observe the Code of Practice which defines the hygiene and safety standards relating to the practice of acupuncture. Code of Practice is available for download from the website www.atcm.co.uk/about us .
Can I get cross infection from acupuncture?
A: The acupuncture needles are always sterilised before use. To eliminate any possibility of getting AIDS, or other infectious diseases, only disposable needles are used (and used once only then disposed of safely). At Fu’s Natural Healing Centre, we ensure that the strictest standards of sterilisation are maintained (approved by the Department of Health) to protect against HIV, Hepatitis B or any other virus.
What about the needles used?
A: We only use single use pre-sterilised disposable needles, which are disposed of after each treatment. As members of The Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine (UK) and The Federation of Traditional Chinese Medicine, we observe the Code of Practice closely, which lays down stringent standards of hygiene and sterilisation of equipment.
What if you have any adverse effects when taking prescribed herbal products?
A: If in doubt, STOP the product and contact us for advice right away.
